About the Center
What is Interior Community Health Center?
Interior Community Health Center (ICHC) was established in 1993. Its mission is to provide universal access to excellent primary health care. It is committed to delivering services in a manner that is sensitive, compassionate and responsive to the needs of all members of the community.
To meet that mission, ICHC provides medical, dental, preventive and educational services for people in Alaska's Interior.
What makes Interior Community Health Center different?
Interior Community Health Center (ICHC) functions just like other private clinics with physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dental hygenists, nurses and other health professionals.
What makes this center different is its attention to the whole person. ICHC routinely offers its patients health education, health promotions, care management, transportation, translation and other patient assistance services.
What if I don't have any or enough insurance?
Many families and individuals today are un- or under-insured and are unable to afford the health care they need. Nearly 20% of the Borough's residents are un- or under-insured.
Because of this, ICHC has special programs that allow it to offer care on a sliding scale basis that reduces the total cost for families and individuals. The scale is based on household size and income.
Medicaid/Medicare patients are always welcome. Insurance companies are billed on behalf of patients with coverage.
